About UNESU
Background
UNESU is the brainchild of Mrs. Mpho Mthembu who is a dedicated community worker and visionary when it comes to community development. However, government bureaucratic processes, fiscal policies and plans frustrated her as a government official and the only way out for her was to establish UNESU for the sole purpose of raising funds to achieve the aims and objectives of the organization as there is no hope that it can be funded by government, it needs all stakeholders and role players.High unemployment rate and poverty
That deserving students are not prevented from following their dreams because of financial constraints at home.
Problem Statement
- Thousands of young people, some of whom passed matric with good marks are unable to further their studies either because parents are unemployed, terminally ill or these children are orphaned or abandoned by their parents.
- Donor agencies seldom fund salaries/ stipends, and as such, volunteers give up if they do not at least receive stipends.
Desired Outcomes
- Delivery of sustainable UNESU Educational Support Services driven by a dynamic humanitarian organization through strategic public, private sector partnerships and linkages with key stakeholders, donor agencies and individual sponsors.
- Improved quality of the lives of assisted students who have graduated and are productive citizens earning an income and are able to support their families and ploughing back to UNESU so that more vulnerable students are assisted.
